You have heard the old phrase “Paint the town red“  The origin of the phrase was a mischievous event, but later was translated to going out and having fun.  That is basically what we want to do…have some fun.  We want to make this a most memorable event of all times.  This is where the world comes together to make it purple.  Relay For Life is symbolized by the color purple.  We want to have a major impact on the local communities by “Painting the town Purple” and raise awareness of our global effort to raise money for cancer research and support programs for everyone affected by this beast.

Stop by the Creek and Light a Lum

 Imagine driving through downtown Frederick one afternoon and seeing purple bows on every parking meter.  Or perhaps it’s late evening, and all of Frederick’s landmarks are flooded with purple light.  What you would be seeing is HOPE!

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a Movement about HOPE…and purple is the signature color of this Movement.

Now imagine that you are a cancer survivor—a survivor of breast cancer, prostate cancer, colon cancer, ovarian cancer, lung cancer…or maybe a cancer that is so rare, no one else in Frederick County or even the state of Maryland shares it with you.  The color purple reflected throughout your town is a tribute to YOU and the belief that together we can make a difference, and we can find a cure!

You can be a part of this Movement!  But to make it happen, we need the support of the leaders of Frederick County.  We need their support—their commitment to the cause—to let all those who are battling cancer know that we are supporting them and working on their behalf!

Relay For Life is an overnight event where teams of family, friends, co-workers, or church members come together to raise money and awareness in the fight against cancer.  Participants walk the track throughout the night because Cancer Never Sleeps.  And we believe that There is No Finish Line, Until We Find a Cure.  Imagine a world where there is NO CANCER!
