FAQs
- Is Relay a running event? No….Relay For Life is an event where teams of people come together and commit to keeping one walker on the track throughout the night. Although you are allowed to run, most participants do not.
- Is there a fee involved in participating? A $10 registration fee is charged, but counts toward your suggested minimum fundraising goal of $100.
- I can’t stay awake all night. Can I come for part of the time? Walkers are not required to stay through the night, but it is definitely encouraged! Teams are assigned campsites along the perimeter of the track, and many set up tents to catch naps throughout the night.
- How many people should be on a team? Recommended team size is 8-10 participants, although teams come with as few as 3 or 4 members up to 80 members!
- But is I only have a few team mates, how can I keep a walker on the track for the entire 12 hours? Although teams are encouraged to keep a walker on the track at all times, smaller teams may find this to be a problem. We ask that you do the best you can and understand that sometimes it’s just not possible!
- How do I register for Relay For Life? Registering is easy! Just log on to www.FrederickRelay.com and click on “Sign Up.” You can either start a team, or join an existing team. If you have questions, you can always email laurie.frey@cancer.org for assistance!
